Preparing for Marriage | THE QUESTIONS
Hey There,
I believe that asking questions is one of the most important ways to prepare for marriage. This is the best way of getting the full picture of flaws, expectations, visions and being able to give your marriage a good head start. You can ensure that all the foundational aspects are there and that you can handle the weight of the persons baggage (we all have them if you dig deep enough).
You can see the advantages of being in that relationship also. Most importantly have a prayerful approach so that you can hear GOD’s plan for your marriage/relationship. Don’t ignore any unsettling feelings that you may have whilst going into that relationship. BE COMPLETELY HONEST. Don’t be afraid to walk away if the marriage is not for you. Here are the best questions I have put together for you BELOW!
- Why are you attracted/in love with me?
- Where do you see yourself in 3/5/10 years?
- Where do you want to live? Why?
- How many children do you want to have? Why?
- Can you tell me something about yourself that on one else knows?
- Are you happy in this relationship? Why?
- What has GOD said to you about this relationship?
- What are your best/worst qualities? What do you think are my best/worst qualities?
- What family traditions do you have/want to establish or continue?
- Am I the first love of your life? If not, then who was and why?
- How many relationships have you had in the past?
- Would you consider yourself to have a religion? If so, what? Do you believe that our relationship will work based upon our religious beliefs?
- Do you consider yourself to be a christian? If so, how much time do you spend with GOD? How important is GOD to you?
- How much money do you have? Are you in financial debt?
- Do you have any sexual urges/struggles?
- What is your relationship like with your family?
- Does your family like me/agree with our relationship? If not, how should we proceed/move forward?
